#TBT Article “The importance of having a Vision“

Because it is Thursday (why not?), we share an article written by BOAVISTA’s CEO, Francisco Branco, for the newspaper Público – The Importance of Having a Vision (article in original format, in Portuguese)

About Francisco:

He was born in Lisbon in 1985 and has lived in Porto since 1989, where he made his academic career. In 2011, he is one of the founders of BOAVISTA, created with the main goal of being the first European company to develop and sell composite materials’ window systems, avoiding traditional alternatives that have stayed the same for the past decades.

Another of his great passions is rugby, a sport he has been involved with since 1997 when he started playing at CDUP, his usual club, where he played until 2014, having been part of the senior team that won one of the 2 Portuguese Cups of the club history (2007).

It was also at CDUP that in 2003 he took his first steps as a coach, having coordinated the club’s schools until 2008, when Porto club was the largest national rugby club with over 300 players.

In 2005, at the age of 20, he is challenged to join the U17 National Team, being one of the youngest coaches to ever join a national team.

Between 2009 and 2018, he is the National Under-16 and Under-17 National Team Coach and Co-Under-18 National Team Coach. (not the result) was at the heart of the whole process. The teams in which he was involved achieved some very significant results during this period, notably the 5th place in the 2015 European Championship (after the only victory ever against Scotland).
