The 5 big advantages of choosing fibreglass windows for oceanfront projects

You may have noticed here on the site that many customers opt for BOAVISTA windows for their oceanrfront buildings. Why is that? Well, here is a list of the main advantages of this selection.

01- Fibreglass windows do not suffer corrosion.

Fiberglass is made of glass and resins that are chemically inert, not suffering damages when subject to corrosive elements such as sea air. This resistance is higher than that of any metal commonly used in windows.A good example of the use of fibreglass in marine environments is recreational boats.

02- Fibreglass windows are very dimensionally stable and need very little maintenance.

Fibreglass has a very low shrinkage/dilation factor, similar to glass, which means that, in the long term, there are no problems with cracks, broken or chipped profiles, as could happen with wood or other materials. In addition, the profiles of the fibreglass frame work in the same way as the window glass, leading to a lower need for maintenance.

03- Fibreglass windows have excellent thermal performance, which is fundamental in locations as exposed to wind as beaches.

With low thermal conductivity values, BOAVISTA systems contribute to the reduction of energy consumption associated with the heating and cooling of homes.

04- Fibreglass windows have excellent acoustic performance.

Their use with glass of interesting characteristics in acoustic terms allows to isolate the dwellings from the noise of the surf. Let’s face it… the noise of the surf can be very interesting on a beach day, but on a stormy night it can prevent us from having a good night’s rest.

05- Fibreglass windows have a reduced ecological footprint, which is increasingly important in any location.

With a CO2 contribution of up to 80% less than aluminium windows, choosing fibreglass is clearly an environmentally friendly option. The reduced energy consumption in its manufacture is one of the main advantages in choosing this material. In addition, the production of pollutants such as CFCs, PO4, SO2 and C2H4 is also clearly lower than with the more common windows (aluminium and uPVC).

So, if you are thinking of building by the sea, contact the BOAVISTA sales team for further information and literature.
